Early Childhood

Our Early Childhood Education program, catering for Kindergarten to Year Two (K-2) students, aims to cultivate a community of lifelong learners who feel nurtured, respected and empowered to explore and engage in our vibrant school community.

Understanding the importance of laying strong foundations for future learning, we use a balanced approach that combines explicit instruction and play-based learning. Aligned with the National Quality Standards and Early Years Learning Framework, our program provides students with meaningful interactions and hands-on learning experiences that foster intellectual, social, physical, and emotional development. To ensure our students thrive, we incorporate high-quality, evidence-based programs that support their development across various domains. These include;

  • Heggerty:A phonemic awareness program that strengthens students’ ability to hear, identify, and manipulate sounds in words, building a critical foundation for reading and writing success.
  • Sounds Write: A high-quality phonics program to effectively teach reading & writing.
  • Peggy Lego Handwriting: A systematic program that teaches prewriting patterns, which form the basis for all letters of the alphabet. By breaking down letters into seven pencil movements, students learn correct letter formation, setting the foundation for legible handwriting.
  • Talk 4 Writing: An explicit writing program that enhances students’ storytelling, vocabulary, and writing skills by guiding them through the processes of imitation, innovation, and independent writing.
  • ORIGO Stepping Stones (Pre): An evidence-based program that brings the conceptual understanding of mathematics to the forefront of teaching and learning.

We believe that collaboration and communication between students, parents and teachers is essential to student success. Our dedicated Early Childhood staff work collaboratively to provide our K-2 students with the best possible education, ensuring a safe, supportive and effective learning environment.
